Ceramic Idler Rollers

Ceramic Idler Rollers, made of ceramics fired in China, with diameters ranging from 89mm to 194mm. For more details about the idlers, please contact us!

Ceramic Idler Rollers are an advanced solution for material handling systems that operate in harsh conditions, offering increased performance, reduced downtime, and extended lifespan. They are especially useful in industries with heavy-duty and high-temperature requirements, ensuring reliable and efficient conveying operations.

As a core component of the conveyor's carrying section, it can withstand the pressure of heavy-duty and high-impact materials such as bulk ores, slag and billets, disperse the weight of the conveyor belt and materials, reduce the sagging of the conveyor belt, and ensure the stable operation of the equipment.

Product features

Wear-Resistant and Corrosion-Resistant

The ceramic roller body features high hardness and strong chemical stability. It can resist friction from high-hardness materials and erosion from acid, alkali and salt media, making it suitable for conveying scenarios involving corrosive materials (such as chemical waste residue and sea salt) and high-abrasion materials (such as sand, gravel and ores).

Auxiliary Deviation Prevention

The roller surface is smooth with high dimensional accuracy. Multiple sets arranged in parallel can form a stable guiding surface. When used in conjunction with self-aligning idlers, it can effectively prevent the conveyor belt from deviating and reduce edge wear of the belt.

Adaptable to Harsh Environments

It can operate continuously for long periods in harsh environments such as high temperature, high humidity, heavy dust and salt spray, requiring no frequent maintenance and reducing equipment downtime frequenc

Ultra-high Wear Resistance

he hardness of alumina ceramics can reach over HRA 85. Its wear resistance is 10–20 times that of carbon steel idlers and 5–10 times that of nylon idlers. Featuring a long service life, it can significantly reduce the frequency of idler replacement and maintenance costs.

High Corrosion Resistance

Ceramic materials feature stable chemical properties, which do not react with corrosive media such as acids, alkalis and salts, nor rust. They are suitable for strong corrosion working conditions like chemical industry, coastal salt spray and mine acidic water.

High Temperature Resistance

Conventional alumina ceramic idlers can withstand high temperatures below 300℃, while modified silicon nitride ceramic idlers have a temperature resistance of over 800℃, applicable for conveying high-temperature materials (e.g., cement clinker, sinter).

Excellent Operational Stability

The roller body has high density and rigidity, not prone to deformation during operation. It has low friction in contact with the conveyor belt, which can reduce belt wear and energy consumption of the drive motor. Its smooth, burr-free surface will not scratch the bottom of the conveyor belt.

Superior Insulation Performance

Ceramic is an insulating material, usable in scenarios with electrostatic protection requirements to avoid the risk of material combustion and explosion caused by electrostatic accumulation.

Severe Impact Strictly Prohibited

Ceramic idlers have high hardness but high brittleness. Severe impact by heavy objects or rough handling is strictly prohibited, otherwise the roller body is prone to cracking and chipping. When conveying large materials, a buffer device must be installed at the feed inlet to reduce material impact force.

Model Selection Matches Working Conditions

Choose alumina ceramic idlers for ordinary high-wear working conditions, featuring moderate cost and high cost performance

Choose silicon nitride ceramic idlers for high-temperature and strong corrosion working conditions, with better high-temperature and corrosion resistance but higher cost;

The roller body length should be slightly longer than the conveyor belt width to avoid belt edge wear caused by extending beyond the roller body.

Installation Precision Control

During installation, ensure the axes of multiple groups of idlers are parallel and perpendicular to the conveyor belt running direction. The idler brackets must be firmly fixed to prevent belt deviation caused by installation errors and aggravated local wear of the roller body.

Sealing and Lubrication Maintenance

Regularly inspect the bearing sealing structure to prevent dust and moisture from entering the bearing and causing seizure. Bearings must be filled with high-temperature and corrosion-resistant grease; the lubrication cycle should be shortened under high-temperature working conditions to avoid bearing damage due to overheating.

Avoid Hard Friction with Metal

Hard friction between the ceramic roller body and metal components (e.g., frame, chute) is prohibited, otherwise the roller surface is prone to scratching or cracking. If local damage to the roller body occurs, replace it in a timely manner to prevent the damaged part from scratching the conveyor belt.

When selecting and purchasing idler components, the following points need to be taken into consideration:

1.The specifications of the rollers must be strictly matched with the conveyor belt width, belt speed, conveying capacity and installation spacing, which serves as the foundation for roller selection.

2.Belt Width Matching: The width of the roller group shall be 100–200 mm longer than that of the conveyor belt to prevent material spillage and conveyor belt edge wear.

3.Load Capacity Matching: Calculate the rated static load and dynamic load of a single roller according to the material density, belt speed and roller group spacing of the conveyor, so as to prevent roller bending and bearing damage caused by overload.

4.Roller Shell Material: Carbon Steel (Galvanized/Plastic-sprayed): Suitable for conventional working conditions with no corrosion and low abrasiveness (e.g., coal and sand conveying), featuring high cost performance.

5.Shaft Material: Prioritize 45# steel with quenched and tempered treatment or stainless steel shafts to ensure sufficient strength and corrosion resistance.

6.Production Capacity: Verify the manufacturer's production equipment (e.g., CNC lathes, automatic welding equipment) and testing methods (e.g., dynamic balance testing, sealing performance testing) to avoid choosing workshop-style manufacturers.

7.Verify Installation Interchangeability

If the rollers are intended for replacing existing ones, focus on verifying the key dimensions including roller shaft diameter, shaft length, roller shell diameter and installation center distance. Ensure full compatibility with the original conveyor roller brackets to prevent installation failures caused by dimensional deviations.

The main arrangement forms of self-aligning idler rollers are:

1. Friction self-aligning idler roller group

2. Conical self-aligning idler roller group
