Product features

Automatic Deviation Correction & Anti-Drift

This is the core function of conical idlers. When the conveyor belt drifts, the belt edge comes into contact with the larger-diameter end of the idler. Since the linear speed of the larger-diameter end is higher than that of the smaller-diameter end, the conveyor belt will automatically move toward the smaller-diameter end of the idler under the effect of the speed difference, and finally return to the central position, achieving automatic deviation correction without external intervention.


Return Conveyor Belt Support

Installed on the return section under the conveyor, it supports the unloaded conveyor belt, reduces the sag of the belt body, avoids direct friction between the conveyor belt and the frame/ground, and lowers the running resistance and belt abrasion.


Adaptation to Severe Working Conditions

It can operate stably in dusty, humid and high-wear environments. When used in conjunction with self-aligning idlers and V-type idlers, it forms a multi-layer anti-drift protection system and improves the operational stability of the conveyor.


Installation Position & Arrangement Requirements

Conical idlers shall be installed at intervals on the return section. Generally, 1 set of conical idlers is matched with 6~8 sets of flat idlers, and full-section installation is not advisable (it will increase the running resistance of the conveyor belt). Priority shall be given to installation in high-risk deviation areas such as near the tail of the machine and direction-changing drums.


Forbidden for Loading Section

Conical idlers are originally designed for the no-load return section and are strictly prohibited from being installed on the loading section (material conveying side). Otherwise, the uneven diameter of the roller body will cause material lateral movement and spillage, and even scratch the conveyor belt.


Regular Cleaning & Maintenance

Regularly clean sticky materials and impurities on the roller surface to prevent the failure of the roller diameter difference caused by material accumulation, which will affect the deviation correction effect. Inspect the sealing condition of bearings to prevent jamming due to dust ingress—jamming will result in loss of deviation correction function and increased conveyor belt abrasion.


Model Selection Matches Belt Width & Speed

The taper of conical idlers (diameter difference between the large end and small end) must match the conveyor belt width and running speed: the wider the belt width and the faster the speed, the smaller the taper to avoid excessive deviation correction force pulling and damaging the belt edge; on the contrary, the taper can be appropriately increased to improve the deviation correction effect.


Use with Other Anti-Deviation Components

Using conical idlers alone is difficult to solve severe deviation problems. It is recommended to use them in conjunction with V-type upper idlers and automatic self-aligning idlers to form a dual protection system of "deviation prevention on loading section + deviation correction on return section".

When selecting and purchasing idler components, the following points need to be taken into consideration:

1. The specifications of the idler rollers must strictly match the conveyor belt width, belt speed, conveying capacity, and installation spacing. This is the basis for selection.

2. Belt width matching: The width of the idler roller assembly should be 100-200mm longer than the conveyor belt width to prevent material spillage or wear on the edges of the conveyor belt.

3. Load capacity matching: Calculate the rated static and dynamic load of a single idler roller based on the specific gravity of the conveyed material, belt speed, and idler roller spacing to avoid overloading, which can lead to idler roller bending and bearing damage.

4. Roller body material: Carbon steel (galvanized/powder coated): Suitable for conventional working conditions without corrosive or highly abrasive materials (such as conveying coal and sand), offering high cost-effectiveness.

5. Stainless steel (304/316): Suitable for corrosive environments (such as chemical materials, coastal humid areas) or food-grade conveying applications.

6. Polymer materials (HDPE/UHMWPE): Suitable for highly abrasive materials (such as ore, coke), applications requiring low noise, or preventing material adhesion; lightweight and wear-resistant.

7. Shaft material: Prioritize 45# steel heat-treated or stainless steel shafts to ensure sufficient strength and corrosion resistance.

8. Production capacity: Understand the manufacturer's production equipment (such as CNC lathes, automatic welding equipment) and testing methods (such as dynamic balance testing, sealing performance testing) to avoid choosing small workshop-style manufacturers.

9. Confirm installation interchangeability: If replacing existing idler rollers, it is necessary to carefully check the shaft diameter, shaft length, roller body diameter, and installation center distance to ensure a perfect match with the original conveyor's idler roller brackets, avoiding installation problems due to dimensional deviations.
