Product features

Restrict the steering trajectory and ensure smooth direction change

The metal roll surface of smooth pulleys features a stable friction coefficient, and can be used in conjunction with bend pulleys to guide the conveyor belt to complete direction changes (e.g., 90° and 180° turns) along a preset trajectory. This prevents the belt from edge warping and corner folding during redirection, reduces bending stress on the belt body, and is particularly suitable for the smooth redirection requirements of light-duty conveyor belts.


Assist in preventing deviation and protect the conveyor belt edges

Smooth pulleys installed on both sides of the bend pulley can restrict the lateral swing of the conveyor belt during high-speed start-stop and load fluctuations, preventing the belt edges from hard friction with the pulley end covers and frame and avoiding fraying and cracking of the belt edges. Meanwhile, the smooth roll surface will not scratch the conveyor belt, making it suitable for light-duty conveyor belts with easily damaged surfaces.


Reduce operation resistance and improve conveying energy efficiency

The frictional resistance of the metal smooth surface is lower than that of the rubber-coated roll surface, enabling smoother rolling friction with the bottom surface of the conveyor belt without imposing additional driving load on the conveyor. It is thus suitable for light-duty, long-distance conveying systems with high requirements for energy consumption control.


Advantages

Simple structure and low cost

Main structure: Composed of a metal roller body, standard deep groove ball bearing housings and stamped brackets. The roller body can be made of Q235 carbon steel (with paint coating for anti-corrosion) or 304 stainless steel (corrosion-resistant and paint-free). Featuring simple processing technology, its production cost is much lower than that of rubber-coated pulleys.


Specification Adaptability: The roller diameter is usually 50~120mm, and the bracket width is suitable for narrow/medium width conveyor belts of 300~800mm. The mounting hole positions are standardized and can be directly matched with the bend pulley frame.


Good cleanability, suitable for clean working conditions

The smooth metal roller body is not easy to adhere to dust, debris or viscous materials, and no material residue occurs during operation, which can keep the bottom surface of the conveyor belt clean. It is especially suitable for industries with high requirements for the cleanliness of the conveying environment such as food, medicine and electronics.


Easy maintenance and extremely low failure rate

No risk of rubber coating falling off or wearing out; service life mainly depends on bearing condition.

Sealed bearings are dust and water proof with a maintenance cycle of 8 to 12 months. Only regular checks for bearing jamming and loose bracket bolts are required, with no complex maintenance operations needed.

If rust appears on the roller surface (for the carbon steel version), it can be repaired by repainting without affecting the usage function.


Lightweight design, suitable for light-duty frames

Light overall weight, about 1/2 to 2/3 of that of rubber-coated bend pulleys of the same specification, imposing low bearing pressure on the conveyor frame, and suitable for conveying systems with light-duty aluminum alloy frames or simple welded frames.


Strictly prohibited for heavy load, high tension and slip-prone working conditions

The smooth roller surface has a low friction coefficient and must not be used in slip-prone scenarios such as heavy mining loads, large-angle climbing, and wet muddy conditions; otherwise, relative sliding between the conveyor belt and the pulley will occur, leading to belt surface wear, power transmission failure and other issues.


Mounting accuracy directly affects the guiding effect

The pulleys must be strictly parallel to the axis of the bend pulley, and the roller surface must be perpendicular to the center line of the conveyor belt; otherwise, the conveyor belt will be subjected to one-sided force, aggravating deviation.

The clearance between the pulley and the conveyor belt edge must be controlled at 3~5mm; excessive clearance fails to limit position, while insufficient clearance causes rigid extrusion and wear of the belt edge.


Ensure proper anti-corrosion treatment (for the carbon steel version)

Smooth pulleys made of carbon steel are prone to rust in humid and dusty environments; the surface paint layer must be inspected regularly, and touch-up painting should be done promptly if peeling occurs. In corrosive environments, it is recommended to directly select pulleys made of 304 stainless steel.


Cannot replace buffer components

The smooth metal roller body has no elastic buffering capacity; at direction-changing stations where conveyor belt tension fluctuates greatly, it must be used with buffer idlers to avoid local tensile deformation of the conveyor belt caused by rigid contact.

1. What are the matching conveyor belt width and roller diameter?

Belt widths such as 500/650/800/1000/1200mm and roller diameters such as φ315×600mm. The diameter shall match the idler roller diameter and conveyor tension, and the effective width shall be adapted to the belt width.


2. What is the designed conveying capacity and rated tension of the conveyor?

It determines the strength selection of the roller shaft diameter and wall thickness to avoid overload deformation.


3.What are the matching motor power and rotating speed?

For drive rollers only, to match the roller diameter and speed ratio and ensure transmission efficiency.


4.What are the installation center distance and installation method of the roller?

flange type, pedestal type, welded type; confirm the mounting hole positions, shaft head dimensions and tolerances.


5.What is the conveying inclination angle of the conveyor?

Rollers for large-inclination conveyors shall feature enhanced anti-slip and anti-material adhesion design.


6.What is the type of conveyed material? What is the actual temperature of the material? Is the material corrosive or deliquescent?

Material types such as ore/coke/grain/chemical raw materials, distinguishing between coarse-grained and high-wear, fine-powder and easy-to-adhere, corrosive and high-temperature materials. The actual material temperature is divided into normal temperature < 80℃, medium temperature 80~200℃ and high temperature > 200℃. For materials such as high-temperature coke, high-temperature resistant materials and lubrication are required; for working conditions involving acid-alkali chemical materials or coastal humidity, stainless steel or anti-corrosion coating treatment is needed.


7. What is the surface treatment method? What are the rubber material and thickness of the lagging?

smooth surface/lagging (cold bonding/hot vulcanization)/cast rubber/ceramic lagging. Ceramic lagging is selected for high anti-slip requirements, and hot vulcanized rubber lagging for high wear conditions. Conventional materials are nitrile rubber (NBR)/wear-resistant rubber with thicknesses of 10/15/20mm, which can be thickened for high wear working conditions.


8. Is a double-ended shaft or keyway required?

Confirm the specifications and quantity of keyways according to the overall transmission design of the machine.
